John commenced his working life with the Bank of New Zealand, remaining with them for 14 years. He left them to take up a position as company secretary and accountant with a property developer, and then moved to be office manager of a five-company building group. This position also included some time in quotes and estimations.
After an eight year period in the United Kingdom “having fun”, John returned to Whakatane where he took up his current position with Kelvin C Deal Accountants.
John has resided in Whakatane over 37 years (apart from spells away); he is married with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
He has served on many local community committees and boards, often as treasurer, and was a school board Trustee for 15 years. He has also been involved in national service boards as well.
John forms part of the auditing team.
