KATHLEEN DEAL

A farmer’s daughter from Gore in Southland, Kathleen is a Dunedin trained teacher, having held teaching position both in Southland, and in Auckland She also taught tertiary students in Vanuatu prior to moving to Whakatane for life-style reasons. After the birth of the first of their three children, parenting took priority. Kathleen joined Kelvin in management when the business commenced, assuming the role of secretary. After the move to The Strand, Whakatane, relief teaching gave way to reception, debtors and creditors, as well as the friendly welcome at the front desk.

Kathleen has been active in education at all levels, especially Religious education known as Bible in Schools, and she brought the Postponing Sexual Involvement programme to EBOP secondary schools. She enjoys meeting people, and assisting them to develop their potential to be the best they wish to be.
